“A Creature is not a Creator” this is the true saying. But I am not sure if this saying is friendly to some of the people with economic power and authority. I am saying this by referring to the current events in Africa; Ivory Coast’s godlessness, Kenya’s killings, the killings and the misuse of forces in Tanzanian’s 2010 General elections, the current revolution in Tunisia, Egypt as well as Algeria.
My concern is not focused on the above mentioned countries, only about how these people think to be like God. That’s why God himself blames these kind of people as he says “My spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal, his days will be a hundred and twenty years…..The lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain”.(Genesis,6:3-7)
In Tanzania, there is a tendency of people to live without obeying the rules of God. Every one has lost the God fearing consciousness. People are full of selfishness. This is a result of capitalism and patriarchy system.
In our country, the same trends have been witnessed in different sectors, such as in decision making bodies, Executive, economic system, judiciary, just to mention some few. The real example can be sited focusing on the selfishness in Tanzanians former members of parliament (2005 -2010) who always demanded more pay in 2006 as if they were sent to the parliament to enrich themselves.
It bored some as the common wananchi observed the continuous sessions of parliament in which the members of parliament discussed issues mostly for their own benefits. It was also boredom as many speakers would spend hours praising their political parties, instead of airing their people’s grievances. For example, it was unbearable to see how most of the CCM members of parliament spent hours, hypocritically, congratulating the president for the best speech.
Under this situation of selfishness, the virus of Corruption which has caused the incurable dangerous economic upset is developing day after day. Take an example of RICHMOND and her daughter DOWANS! These have become a heavy load on the shoulders of TANESCO which is now totally disabled to fulfil its key objectives; hence towns and cities of Tanzania are covered by darkness and extremely poverty. The result is that industries, offices, homes and every Conner of the country are lacking electricity to empower development. Moreover, suffice to say it here, the buying of the fake RADAR; the presidents ‘Air Force One’ have over milked our country to death.
Another fat daughter of Corruption is Irresponsibility. Taking a glance to the extreme failure of 2010 in form four results, I feel ashamed of being called a Tanzanian. However it is clear now that all these were the result of irresponsibility to all practioners such as students for their side depended much on being corrupted to have assistants in examination rooms.
Let it be remembered that Ignorance, poverty and hunger are the three big enemies since independence under the driver Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere the former president of Tanzania, a person was typically against irresponsibility in his says and action. The experience shows that, Mwalimu, sometimes, made hard decisions to step down those who were against him and irresponsible, that’s why he fought against corruption.
Dear brethren, think of all those resources we have in this country. Think of our unique Tanzanite, gold, diamond, tin and other precious stones. Then think of our rich oceans, lakes, forests, game reserves with unique wild animals. Do we real deserve to be poor? Do our kids deserve to sit on stones in their classrooms? For sure, the beautiful ones are not yet born...!
